Wanted some small decorative candles with a beachy theme. Supplies, blue sand, 2 wine glasses shellls, beads silver and blue, candles and rope., tacky glue and glue gun. Everything bought at Dollar Tree, except blue sand Michaels
Wrap wine glass stems with rope, used tacky glue on rope, put your glasses upside down on the cardboard and draw circles around the bottom with a pencil cut out cardboard circles for the bottom of the glass to hold in your sand, fill glass with shells and any other decorations you want in the glass first., then put in your sand, half fill the glass with sand, then attach the cardboard to the bottom of the glass with hot glue around the rim, then wrap your rope around the bottom of the cardboard 6 or more times, with tacky glue to hide where you attached the rope and cardboard, Now this next step is very important, carefully put your hand under the cardboard and flip the glass over quickly so your decorations inside the glass will be on top. Then put your candle on top of the stem and you are done
Decorations under sand, glue cardboard and rope to close the glass
Flip over and put on candle. Done

Very pretty! Love it. Think I'll have to save this. Soon my daughter will be moving out & I'll be doing a Beach Themed makeover on the inside of my house.

I want to, but I'm worried the sand will make the glass sandy

Frequently asked questions
Have a question about this project?
The dust from the sand sticks to the glass and looks terrible when I flip upside down. Any hints to keep this from happening?
Can this be done with ribbon?
How did you get all your beads and shells to look perfectly placed? When you do it like you said by quickly flippingg it over how come the sand doesn't just cover over the design and make it uneven?
