Pros: warm, cheap, absorbs sound
Cons: can trap mould, hard to deep/ keep clean, synthetic off-gassing, never fully get liquid spills out
I personally like the idea of a wood or laminate floor, with a banded rug on top, that can be removed for cleaning.

If you like carpet, I say install it; if not, try another type of flooring. There are certainly enough choices out there.
it absorbs sounds, warms up a room, and specifies diff areas in some cases. It also attracts dust and is harder to clean
I hate carpet ---with soo many beautiful area pieces available you can change it out every year
Not on top of Wooden Polished wood - It will Sweat! Not in Bathrooms or Toilet or Kitchen. All other areas OK!
Carpeting is a matter of taste. I prefer it in the bedrooms, but have other types of flooring elsewhere. Heavy traffic areas wear down carpeting unless it is similar to commercial-grade low pile. If you like wood, laminate or tile, an area rug can be a good choice...not too expensive and you can change the look of a room by adding one. Good luck deciding!
I like carpeting in the living area and bedrooms...the warmth and softness. With hardwood or laminate, I would be dust mopping them all the time. The rest of the house, I prefer hardwood, tile or laminate.
I think it's a personal choice. I prefer tile and hard wood flooring for several reasons, the look, easy cleaning, cool on the feet, doesn't retain dirt & dust like carpet does. Area rugs are always a consideration. Best of luck.
I took all carpeting out. Pets and kids. Use area rugs and put vinal floor covering in bedrooms and hallways. Easier to keep clean, allergies are gone. Did a hardwood floor in frontroom with an area rug.
