There's a window from your bedroom into the livingroom?
12" wide shelves are more than wide enough to display items or decorations.
Be careful though. That opening may be there to allow natural light into a darker room in your house.
would be cool to look at area...because it goes into bedroom You want it cozy and afford privacy.. It would be cool to look at a gas fireplace focal point.. glass blocks in a decorative design, shutters in a fun design
Make a small 2x4 frame and wedge in the window. Cover with 1/4" luan. If you are artist, paint a lovely landscape scene. Frame out the picture with molding from a Lowes or Home Depot. You then will have a nice painting "hung" in each of the rooms and the hole will be closed.
Can you share pictures? Not knowing the circumstances, If I owned the home I would dry wall the opening closed to make both rooms separate and privatre.
How about a stained glass piece installed in the space? Still lets light through depending on the colors chosen.
If possible, remove it and repair the wall. However, I have a window between my livingroom and my enclosed front porch. It would throw off the balance of the room, to get rid of it and cut down on light in the room. So I dressed it like a regular window with a linen roman shade and drapes. The shade stays down and it looks like a regular window. If there was a bedroom on the other side, I would place some type of cover there also for added privacy.
Fit a decorative cut out board (Sold for covering radiators). Or maybe a Voile curtain. or Net or Lace
