You can't. Rit dye can not be used this way. It will be a fail. You have to use extremely hot water.

Of course when you are dyeing, you can only go darker or a bit brighter.

I like how the people who dared to dye their upholstry used vinegar in a spray bottle to set the dye after their final rinse.
