Bless your heart. Check all of the wood connections and use tightening and wood putty to make the rocker safe. Paint it your mother's favorite color or to accent her favorite team or hobby. On the back of the back slats, decoupage small pictures of her and other family members, especially grandchildren. On the front, paint or decoupage or stencil pretty flowers. I hope something here helps. Best wishes 😇
Can you please re-phrase your query a little more precisely?
Are you referring to a rocking chair? What is it you'd like to do with it? If it's painting/decorating, what colors do you like and what decor does it need to go with?
Myself, I would want to keep it as close to the same as it was when she was using it. The memories in that rocking chair will stay with it forever no matter what you do to it. Keep it close, it is something for the whole family to cherish.
Marsim, If you are wanting to paint it to memorialize her, why not refinish it as she had it while she was alive, but stencil her name across the headrest part (either in front or back) in her favorite color or flanked by her favorite flower ... something like that, which would remind everyone that it was hers. Perhaps put a backrest pillow or seat cushion on it to help make it more comfortable (if there isn't already one on there to update). Good Luck Marsim. I hope you find something that hits the spot for you. Thanks for coming to Hometalk for help :)
How about use a color that she loved or a setof colors? I love using chalkpaint, you won't have to sand or prime if you do. What a beautiful project!
