Personally, I like to group them separately as the black and white photos (in black frames) make a nice impact on their own. The lack of color makes you focus on the images. The color photos are more clustered and the frames don't have to be the same color unless that is part of your grouping scheme. Like oak frames for photos hung as you go up a stairway. I like to mix in candid or casual poses along with professional portraits and formal poses. Good luck!

Lay out the assortment on the floor in a space the size you expect to use . .color and Back and white all sizes mixed . .just play around with pleasing combinations make a photo of it and start on your wall. Because the frames will not all be the same size balance and shuffle to suit. .then start with one in the center or a corner and decide where each hanger needs to go, one by one . The top of the arrangement should be level . You could be frame with some trim wood as though it were a big collage in a frame. The inside of the frame could be a color contrast to the rest of the wall. different frames and colors can be used or paint them all the same either works comfortably. in this example some are photos and some art
Hello Bhorne; If I were you, I would lay all of my Pictures out.
Arrange in a pleasing way that makes you Happy.
Example, I personally have old Family photos hung on the wall with newer Family photos. I like how they look together.
I have a variety of frames, ranging from Antiques to modern ones.
My photos are hung on a large wall, that has Antique furniture underneath.
I hope that this helps you!!!!!! Take Care!
be unique..... I don't follow any hard & fast rules..... just saying.
Unless you prefer symmetrical groupings, you should usually use an odd number of pictures. If you only have room to display a few of the pictures, go ahead and prepare twice as many for hanging, then alternate the pictures every three to six months. You are more likely to alternate them if you have more photos ready to go on the wall. Best wishes 😇
try laying the pictures on the floor first in the grouping you like. Hint: eye level when hanging single photos
