My husband finished a table for my sons apartment and thoiught it needed another coat of stain but I did not realize he had put a thin coat of poly on the table top and now it won't dry! It looks amazing but it is still tacky 6 hours later! Help I hope we don't have to sand down and start over.

Wow! I would try removing the last coat of stain. an see if the poly will dry. you may have to strip the whole thing again. Good luck.

I Karekey. I tend to agree. See if you can get the last stain off. Assess the look and decide if you need to give it a light sanding. Then you may need to re-apply both the stain and poly. Good Luck.

Dampen a lint free cloth with mineral spirits and lightly wipe the stain in the grain direction. This will remove some of the surface stain and assist in the drying.
