If you can share a picture it will help to know what to recommend. I used plantation style shutters with no curtains to reduce fabrics that could hold allergens. But like Naomie said, whatever catches your eye, it doesn't have to be in style, or trendy as long as you like it!
So many options to choose from, try surfing some of the store websites with curtains for sale, and decorator magazines and design websites like Houzz.com. Sometimes no curtains are the option, then consider some of the decorative or privacy translucent non-adhesive window films.
Blinds can be nice too, I like the honeycomb ones that can open from the top so you can maintain privacy with them even when open. I love the plantation shutters and the old wide slat wooden blinds.

I would use sheers, and then have a wind chime, or a sun reflector to hang in the window also. You can have a selection of colors of sheers, and rotate this area monthly. This will make a huge diff. Best wishes, J.
