I don't know of any Leechfield maintenance. Putting yeast down the toilet monthly helps with the solids in a septic tank.
: )
Need bacteria, not fermentation try yogurt or buttermilk left at room temp for a cay or so.

Having it pumped out yearly or bi-yearly, depending on the size of your tank and how many people live in your house is the first and best thing you can do. If you have a garbage disposal, using is rarely or never. If you're worried about your leechfield, ask the people who drain your tank about "jetting" out the field. This will identify how well the field is or is not working. Good luck.
If you are asking about the landscaping in and around leach fields my daughter was given a list of plants not to plant near hers when she bought her home. You don't want anything with deep or taproots near your field, nor plants with invasive root systems. That makes most large trees not a good choice. Chinese elms, pines also are some that aren't good. Your city or county should be able to help. Other than that, they don't have to do anything to the leach field
