We removed an old trash compactor, and built two shelves on the space. Then I bought large baskets at Hobby Lobby that fit the space perfectly. I use the baskets for potatoes and onions, and fruit. Worked out great!

Once you pull it out, and cap off or remove the plumbing, take your measurements and see if you can buy a cabinet that will fit in your space. If not, you may need a custom drawer unit or find a used one that will fit. You may not be able to get the same cabinet, depending on the kitchen's age, but, if an older kitchen, I would look at the Restore, too.

we removed a dishwasher and purchased a cabinet from our local big box store and just slide it right into the empty space after making sure all the hookups were removed and or capped. Refinished to match rest of cabinets and set to go!!

  • I would consider a roll out cart type, maybe with a cutting board top for extra prep space or serving surface when entertaining. My preference is metal baskets, easier to clean (I have a lot of pets.)

Great idea ! Definitely a better utilization of space than cabinets .

Should be easy! remove dishwasher and make sure all water pipes are capped. measure the space available and order new drawers and hardware to match your existing cabinets! Good luck!
