Furniture Folks: Is there a way to repair this finish on a wood table?

So...I was using some glue to repair a sculpture that had been knocked off its table. Had my dining room table covered with newspaper, and when my elbow slipped, there went the newspaper, and a glop of glue landed on the table. I wiped it up immediately, but it was faster than me, and took the finish off of the table. The table is an important piece of furniture in our family, so I'm doomed if I can't figure this one out.

The glue was the craft version of the E6000 glues. I'm really not sure what kind of wood the table is made of. I've included a couple of photos. It's really not as bad as the photo looks...not nearly as "white", just looks dull and unfinished.

Thanks!

That looks like walnut wood. If the surface is uneven (can't tell by the pic) sand it lightly & then maybe get some walnut stain & go over it. When it dries you might be ok w/that or maybe use a little polyurethane on it. I would just try to wood stain & let that dry well. See if that helps. I hope it does. That is what I have done w/mine in the past. I didn't have glue stain but others & it has worked quite well. I have had chips in my woodwork etc & if I use some stain on it that takes care of it & looks like new.

Try rubbing the stain with a walnut,or coconut oil to loosen the glue. Then continue to buff and see if the finished comes back at all.

I use the little scent ports from Bath & Bodyworks, so one day my husband disconnected one to use the outlet and put it on top of our dining room table. He put it sideways, the oil spilled out. Didn't notice for a few hours, Luckily, there was a runner on the table which absorbed most of it but some did get on the table and took off the top layer. I started applying and lightly rubbing Murphy's Oil Soap (very lightly diluted) for a few days. It improved a lot. In fact unless I point it out to someone, they don't notice. Good luck with yours.

I have not tried this but I read that using Mayonnaise and rubbing the spot over many days it will remove the glue and get wood. I would get wood stain to match.

you may have to put the gloss coat on the entire table to match

Yeah, that B&B stuff has done some damage around here, too. I might even have some Murphy's hanging around here. Great idea, was totally off my radar. Thanks.

Ugh...I was thinking that I might have to gloss coat the whole thing. Probably best to hire a pro for that. :(

I have NEVER heard of the "Mayo Cure". Interesting!

    Thanks so much

My Mother removed a sticky stain with Vaseline, I have used GooGone, WD-40.

If it is 3D... like sticking up over the rest of the wood, I would try a heat gun to soften it and then try to remove with a plastic scraper.
