Soak, in Soapy water overnight and then use a Nailbrush to clean it.

Hello, definitely bar keepers friend powder for this job. I prefer the powder version for better scrubbing power! Sprinkle it on then use a damp rag to scrub the rust, rinse then repeat if necessary. Hope this helps.
