Most people that I know got on their hands and knees and pull it out but I tell you that is just not me. I put out a weed and feed early in the Spring and then again in the middle of the summer. That pretty well solves my problem. If I do see a hairy little crab grass, I have a cool weed ripper outter that I just pop them out!
Hope this helps but to be honest, you need to get all your neighbors on the same page because those little bugger seeds just float everywhere!
Here is information about getting rid of crabgrass -- what to do and what not to do. Hope this information is helpful and what you need to know for your particular situation:

I haven't used it myself, but Bayer Advanced Lawn Weed & Crabgrass Killer claims to treat crabgrass (and dandelions!) without damaging lawns, when applied as directed. It gets mixed reviews, but here's a shopping link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004OEUDLE/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_x_bw5KzbBX8GS2A
Really, the best way to get rid of crabgrass is to use a pre-emergent treatment at the beginning of the growing season. We've had good luck with Scotts: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DU7Z62W/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_x_Uy5KzbBB3RHMA
We use Scott's 4-step program. My husband uses a walk-behind spreader and it works well. It's not perfect, but it gets 95% weeds out. Hope this helps you.
I agree with the pre-emergent treatment in the spring. That is probably the best way to go, You can always use spot treatment if any shows up to prevent spreading.
