Hi Paula, You could paint them and create strands to hang on your Christmas tree. You could also nail several of them into a board and hang near your back door for hanging coats and jackets on.
Use them for drawer pulls (handles). Leave natural or paint them, put a long screw through the spool hole and screw into the drawer. Also works on cabinets in the kitchen, the bathroom, wherever. I have a wooden box, which now has a lid, unexpectedly, I saw a piece of flat wood that would work great for a lid, so screwed a spool onto the lid and placed it on the box!
i have a bunch of white plastic spools. My Girl Scout troop used them and made snowmen with eyes and hats. They were very cute
You can sell them on Ebay if you have a good collection of them. Ask friends and relatives for their extras if you can and sell what you have. Teachers and camp directors use them for projects in craft classes

Remove the paper from the ends and kids love making towers with them. String them together for a fun baby toy. Glue them together to make legs for sewing room shelves. If you have as many as I do you can probably fill an entire wall with shelves!
