Probably correct. With nothing to hold them in place properly, they start sliding around. An easy fix though. Here is a link to walk you through the process. You can do this!

Baseboards come in painted plastic now, which is cheaper than wood. If you can get that installed ASAP, you might prevent new gaps. To fix the old, you need to start on the wall closest to the gaps. Use a big flat head screwdriver to work the boards back together, one by one, and continue all the way to the wall. There should only be a gap between the flooring and the baseboard. Best wishes 😇
Use the heel of your foot and snap them back in place
Their made to shift a little, to keep from breaking. Filling in the gap could stop the shifting, and cause them to crack. The best option is to add trim.

We have baseboards, and ours still slide sometimes; and we have to kick it back into place. If they are not glued together (which is recommended) they are still going to slide.
i would call a store such as Home Depot or Lowes and ask a salesperson what to do. Or better yet, go I need person.
