How about hanging them from a suspended ceiling rack?
Use a hanging pot rack over an island. Hang cup cooks in a base cabinet and using 'S' hooks you can hang them for better viewing and ease of access.
Depending on your desired effect- there are multiple options. Lowe's and Home Depot have sections designated to home storage solutions with hardware and racks one installs in drawers and cabinets. There are also ceiling hung pot racks. I once used nails and simply hung them from my walls at equidistant and level intervals. That is truly the cheapest method and if done properly looks rather nice- not to mention it is extremely handy to see what you need at a glance and simply pull from the wall.
You can use a file folder holder, or paper organizer for your pans.
It depends on your kitchen currently. Do you have ample wall space to put up a hangar of some type?
I understand. Hanging them on hooks might help if you can get the kids to use them. Or maybe an open baker's rack where they can be stacked?
My kitchen is small and over 100 years old and yes, that is the original pine floor. This was really the pantry. Previous owners made it the kitchen by putting a stove, sink and d.w. in. We added the refrig. The pans in first pic hang on a low wall across from the stove. The second picture shows the original cupboards over the stove. On the left I store bigger cooking pans, on the right over refrig are baking things, across from this section are open shelves with some more big pans/pots. Directly over the stove is a hood, that is fastened to a small shelf with a lid. In that I keep very small pans that I use a lot as there are only two of us. Look at your own space. Think of what you really need and use. there is an awful lot that can be done with any space at all.
