I use to make pompoms for my roller skates and ice skates! And sometimes I made them for my winter hats! hehehe :)

My sweet mother-in-law, age 100, has always dressed flamboyantly and stylishly. But when she was about 70, she crocheted herself a red hat, maybe called a cloche? Her two sons teased her mercilessly , threatening not to take her anywhere if she put a white pompon on top. Never one to back down, Mame the Flame made and attached to her hat THREE white balls and wore that hat for many years. When my husband and his brother teased her, she threatened to put three more balls on top of the hat. Argument won. 😇
