Love painted furniture. Do it with chalk paint. Here's a good tutorial: http://www.providenthomedesign.com/2015/08/06/painting-cabinets-with-chalk-paint/
You can learn from my mistakes. I painted an IKEA dresser using a brush. First mistake...very lumpy. An edger with soft surface would have been much smarter. Second mistake. I should have sanded down or planed the tops of each drawer. After being painted, they were too tight to open and close. Good luck
I have never used chalk paint and I also have never had any problem painting furniture. I do decoupage so some bureaus I have done decoupage on, also I used an old lace cloth to give the decorative treatment on the bureau at the end. I love to paint so these projects are fun for me.
