I have been painting my walls and notice that my ceiling looks yellowish. Can I paint this ceiling as well? I'm up for any ideas
Yes wash the walls down with a mixture of white vinegar and water 50,50,allow to dry, apply two coats of stain blocking primer allowing to dry in-between coats, and paint
Absolutely! Otherwise the paint is just going to drip down the wall and not stick. Wash with TSP and use a good primer - 2 coats, like Kilz or Zinsser, let dry between coats, then paint. Good luck!
Yes. Go to the Dollar Store and get a bottle of Awesome Degreaser. Believe me they don't call it awesome for nothing, best I've ever used. Makes quick work of it. Get a pair of kitchen rubber gloves, those round plastic scrubbies, and a car sponge. I just did one on my client's kitchens, didn't take long at all and I did her ceiling and cabinets.
Yes. And here is the best way to do that. Use TSP. It's available in any store that sells home products, as well as most big box stores.
yes...you should clean it first using something like TSP or ammonia to remove the grease, or else it will most likely bleed through the new paint. You should also use one coat of a good primer to help prevent grease bleeding through.
I would. Otherwise that grease stain might bleed through or could cause the paint to bubble.
Absolutely clean your walls before painting them. I use Joy liquid dish detergent and warm water. Someone told me once that Joy is the only dish detergent that you can mix with something else and it doesn't streak. So far it's worked for me.
Yes. If you don't remove the grease, paint will not bond with the surface.
You must or eventually the grease stain will seep through.
Yes. Sorry, but it will hold paint much better!
