  • Your dishwasher needs to be cleaned. Make sure the traps are free and clear and run a full cycle with vinegar.

Fill the detergent tray with a couple of tablespoons of baking soda and run a short cycle on the dishwasher. It will help clean and freshen the dishwasher.

If you don't run your dishwasher every day, just rinse off your dirty dishes before putting them in the dishwasher. We are only two people in our home, so I only run mine every few days, and I never have any odors.

We are also a small family unless the other two kids are here to eat, so all dishes are wiped off with running water and a sponge. If the dishes are put in dirty, including silverware they will start growing, especially if starchy food residue is left on them I always make sure what is put in is rinsed, hubby and kids tend to put really dirty plates and silverware in the dishwasher and also things that can't go in the washer.

You say it is a new dishwasher. Call the seller. Got a warranty? If tit is new that shouldn't matter. You need a professional to come check it out and perhaps get it switched. If you rinse your dishes, wash them the same day/night there should be no smell. You do not have to wait until every dish you own is in there.Small loads are sensible and economical.

if you only use such few dishes, why use the dishwasher at all? They should never sit in there that long, only create a lot of bacteria in the water from the rinsing.. Wash once daily, with a good pod. If then it still stinks, then call someone, perhaps it is not draining properly. Perhaps it is the water you are rinsing with accumulating on the bottom to make the stink along with traces of food.
