What kind of paper, wall paper?
Not sure from your comment, but if you are talking about melamine coating on your cabinet doors, you can peel that off and then primer and paint your cabinet doors. It looks a bit like a stiff contact paper, and you just carefully remove it from the surface. The pressboard underneath can be painted just like regular wood.
