I bought a shelf at the dollar general store and I stacked two of them on my counter. I like the fact that I can move them to clean.
One plank of wood. Divide it into Two.
Then cut one piece in half again. 2 short bits = Legs . Long bit = Top.
Use No more nails to Glue legs in place on to Top equal distance recessed either side of shelf. This is very basic raised shelf! Hope this gives you the idea.......
I like to pick up stray drawers . . . if they are painted they can be so interesting. . . it would be easy to add some pieces of wood to make shelves.

You can use magazine ( wooden) holders and stack them on their sides
