vacuum the opposite way
Do you have a hair pick? Use it to lift the fibers and moisten them to help them fluff up again. I have also heard that putting a wet towel over those spots, and steaming them with lift them. After working on them, just give them some time to return to their normal look.

Heat your carpet with hair dryer till it is very warm. Then brush the pile up in back and forth motions. And woola it should look pretty good.
Steam will revive the fibers with the help your help combing the spots with your fingers.
I've done that! As long as your carpet isn't wool or something sensitive to water, place ice cubes in the depressed areas (the furniture dents or tracks), and leave it to melt. Walk away. Do it overnight so no one messes with it. Should be good by morning!
Lay ice cubes in the dented areas, in a line if needed, walk away and let melt. Works like a charm. Just don't use on wool carpets or non-water friendly rugs.
Place a thin towel over the spot then run your steam iron over it. Comb the fibers up while it's cooling.
I put plain water in a spray bottle, spray and fluff a little. Sometimes it takes a couple of applications.
ice cubes in the indentations and then comb the fibers
PLEASE no water or ice. Steam iron all the way . Don't put water on the carpet unless you absolutely have to, to clean it, and then only sparingly . The padding beneath the carpet should not ever get wet. It rots quickly .
This idea came from my carpet cleaner. Place large pieces of ice cubes in the dented rug. The cold allows the fibers to relax. Worked for me!
