Squirrel deterrent!

We've had squirrels around for several years and have tried to trap them (they don't go into the traps any longer), they steal my fruit and veggies from my garden. Dig under our footings. Help! What can we do?

They don't like moth balls, but you have to keep replacing them when they dissolve.

Those plastic garden owls and toy rubber snakes will scare them away, but squirrels are pretty smart little rascals.Rotate these about once a week so it keeps them on their toes.Good luck đŸ˜‰

We had them invade our farmhouse walls..They chewed thru the facia board behind the gutters and I was afraid they would chew up all the wiring...so after many attempts i hate to admit this but had to hire a sharp shooter to do the deed..broke my heart but to afraid of fire..

They do not like plastic forks ,stick the handle in the ground and leave the points up near the fruit and veggies. also I shave or slice pieces of Irish spring soap and put it around the border of the garden as well as sprinkle hot pepper flakes on the ground they are smart but these things keeps them at bay also I make small wire cages to put around the fruit if possible. if it is a tree you can put vasileine on the trunk so they cannot climb that way it is a lot of work but worth it if you want your harvest.

Plant extra. They need to eat, too.

    Live and let live.

Have friends and family save all their clear plastic clamshell containers from produce, as soon as tou see new fruit on your tree put a clamshell around it. You may need to cut a small hole for the limb. The squirrels aren't smart enough to take them off, and your fruit still gets lots of sun!

I have found cayenne pepper sprinkled on the entire plant keeps them at bay. Of course you have to redo after a rain and you need to mist the plants first, then sprinkle on the pepper. Don't get pepper frm the store, but from Amazon by the pound.
