Sure, why not? You can also do a stained glass window if you wish.
A pantry I had in a previous hose was made from a closed stairway and it had a small octagonal window and it faced west, but caused absolutely no problem. It made it light enough that I didn't have to turn on a lamp except after dark.
there are pretty stained glass ,or, other designs, drawer liners, that can be used if one is a on a budget.
