The countertop is from Lowes, it is a fake black granite look in matte finish. I want to add sheen to it so it looks more realistic.
RustOleum makes a 2 part process that looks like granite for use on formica/laminate - I've not used it - but the demo piece I saw at lowes was lovely
I have not found a product that covers well and lasts.
You can buy peel-and-stick countertop finishes that actually get pretty good customer reviews. Here's one example: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KEPZVN6/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_x_YogMzb2Q2K1M0
Paint. There are kits at big box stores for this as well
Lowes carries a counter top restorer kit very simple to use .excellent results. comes in an assortment of colors. highly recommend this product. very good price for quick professional looking change.
Rustoleum makes a good product called Countertop Restorations.
I have used the Rustoleum countertop restoration in our rental house. I recommend doing several coats as the paint can scratch off. With different renters moving in and out, we've been very pleased with the product and the counters look brand new. It's also very easy to do.
I used contact paper that looked like granite. It lasted 2 years and I finally had to peel it off because my daughter spilled her nail polish on it. No fading or problems even cleaning it with detergent and placing hot items on it. I'm planning on doing it again in a different color this time. Here are before and after pictures. Best thing is my counter is 9 feet long including the sink area and it only took one roll of paper for 5.99!
