if your place gets hit with lots of sunshine...go with a lighter color. look around the neighbor hood and see how others have their places painted. you don't want to copy a look, but you do want to fit in.
What colors do you have in mind. Do you want something soft like ivory or something more colorful like turquoise? If you want to go with color similar to those in your neighborhood, look around and see what you find.
Hope that helps a little
Oh, that's funny Dfm and I post almost the same idea within seconds of each other. I was just moving my mouse to hit the button, when his/hers popped up. LOL
ooooooh that's a purdy house! I can just imagine what she looked like in her glory. If its stone I would go for a soft grey. You should go down to records bureau in your town to find out who the architect was. From the looks of this stately house he probably built other houses. That way you can research his work. Please post pictures when you're done. Its a really beautiful house.
You're in the Caribbean, go native, with teal, mango and burgundy browns and greens. I also plant a lush garden with ferns and banana trees with a flagstone path and patio to match. Have your own private tropical resort retreat. Good luck
white would look great, with the trim and railing a contrasting color? Perhaps a pale blue, grey, or another color that may pop? Very carribean.
Pale Turquoise
Hello Carol; What a Beautiful home you have!
I am unsure about what resources you have since you are in the Caribbean, but I would visit any retailors that carry a large amount of exterior paints.
Please pick out any paint chips that you remotely like and are interested in.
Please follow your Heart. Pick out paint colors that makes you Happy and that you Love!
Your home would be Gorgeous in a dark color or a pale color.
Also, what will you have on the roof, Tiles or?? I am asking as I would get a color that will look nice with the roof, as well!!
I hope that this helps you !!!!! Have fun painting! Take Care!
So heres a thought ,what colors do you like?Honestly I will repeat myself over again, painting is very personal. go with what makes you happy and no one elses opinion
The tropics love white with a gold or mango trim. Too much color may be too much and actually, make the house look smaller. Also white is easiest to maintain and touch up than a specific color.
Light yellow with bright white trim. Plant lots of citrus trees around
A shade of ocean blue.
I was getting ready to say just that, I would go with what you like and want!
Unless you have some sorts of neighborhood association that has rules about colors and landscape, then I guess you would have to abide by rules or risk a fine! That happened to my mom with the color of siding( choice of only so many colors) and a friend with landscape colors ( her flowers were too bright) she had to dig them up! So be careful and ask around first.
It is lovely . Someone else said look around the neighborhood. I agree. You want your house to be special. Right? Maybe pink. My opinion.
Don't you have a color that is your favorite? I would go with that.
My favorite combination for "beach" living is orange sherbet with kiwi trim. Sounds awful, but looks great!
i would go safe and paint white with a blue trim but pick what you like and be as daring as you like.. the style home would be forgiving of many choices
There are only three primary colors, red, blue and yellow. Every paint color begins with one of those colors, black and white can be added to lighten or darken the color. Make it easy on yourself, by choosing your favorite color from one of the three primary colors. If you like blue, for example, but want to be a little more daring, see what happens when you add red to the blue. You get purples and lavenders. If yellow is your fav, and you add blue, you get a variety of greens. With red on the other side you add yellow, you get orange and sunburst colors. Let your inner-self guide you. This is the Caribbean and so whichever you choose, you might want to gyrate to the brighter, bolder colors in the spectrum. Whatever you choose, you will be living with it for a long time, so you must make the final choice. As my son likes to say, "chocolate or vanilla - choose". Safe, or bold, choose. Because after you choose your primary color, this will be the next decision to make. Buying sample size paints in your color range will help you to see the differences to make your final choice.
So many have mentioned my first choice which is a shade of ocean teal. But the idea of Orange sherbert is appealing. Whatever you choose, the trim is most important because it's the part that will need repainting or touch up the most. Snow white trim on a light teal would look like the ocean. I would use a satin finish on your trim so that the railings and other places that people touch would be easy to clean. Beautiful house and a great project!
Do you have pics of inside? I would love to see! Just gorgeous outside!!
I'm probably crazy but an orange shade very pale or buttery yellow. Lots of greenery......yellow with that "birds of paradise " plants.
