Hi Gloria, We use one in the attic for our visiting granddaughter. It has 3 drawers on each side. It could be used for a desk. But in our case the top is slightly raised over the surrounding surface. I imagine that is because it was once the lid of the machine. It would be better if it all were flat. If you posted a picture I bet you would get lots more suggestions.
did the machine come with it? the older machines are art pieces themselves.
black with ornate gold looking decals. no idea how the red line got there- spell checker? you can take a piece of thicker plywood and extend the top of the machine cabinet. makes a nice place to display framed photos, hold paper plates cups plastic ware for gatherings, or set a tv on it tv. remotes tucked into the drawers.
the younger set can take turns running the treadle.. blow off some energy.
Hi Gloria, Here's some google images to explore but they won't all have instructions. If you find one you like, click on the picture then, on the right, click on View Page. To go back to continue looking, first use your back button to get to the picture, then just use the X on the picture and all the others will come back.

Good luck!
drop a plastic planter box into the center (lid open) and use for an indoor planter
Hello Gloria; I have my Grandmothers Antique sewing machine cabinet.
I use it to hold Antique Depression glass, close to my Dining room.
It looks really nice, and people always comment on it, when I have visitors!
If I decide to remove the glassware, I am going to use it to hold old Cookbooks, that I use!
I Hope that this helps you!!! Take Care!
Cast Iron or Wood?
Depending on the size you can use it for many things such as a kitchen island if you put a new top on it.
For other suggestions perhaps post a photo as there are so many repurposed ideas
Great ideas, thanks, it does have the original machine in which is back with gold lettering. It did work fine the last time I tried it, but that was YEARS ago about 1960...when I got a new one
