120 Year Old Cabin Restoration

When we bought our property there was a 120 year old logcabin on the original homestead. Over the years the creek flooded into it sothe bottom two logs were rotted as well as most of one wall. People suggestedwe just burn it down but we just couldn’t do that as most of the 120 yr. oldlogs were in pretty good shape. I jacked up the entire 16’ x 26’ cabinincluding the porch 3’ off the ground. Put down 20 cubic yards of gravel &poured a concrete slab over it. This made the floor about 18” higher so thereis less chance for the creek to flood into it. The previous floor was simplyrotted boards lying on wet soil. We cut Doug Fir logs on the property; handpeeled them & began the rebuilding. My wife & I did all the workourselves with some assistance by my son.
