Have you checked your local thrift stores? I have found tons of hardware over the years this way that didn't cost much money.
Yes! I upcycle a lot! I buy from Amazon. I also just redid my kitchen and bought from there. Super prices when buying new. If you want mix match I have a ton in my recycle drawer!!
hobby lobby carries some beautiful hardware and you can check for when they go on sale 50% off.
How about using spools from thread and painting them or children's blocks which come in many shapes and painting them also.
