you could buy a wooden frame from a craft store and glue on your various small sea shells

  • Just glue them on. Most people lay out their pattern first then start gluing. Type of glue depends on where you will be displaying your item. I used a clear contact cement type product.

Thanks so much. It was great getting a visual on where to even start laying out the shells.

You can use Loctite super glue gel on the shells to individualy glue the shells where you want them.Or you can use a hot glue gun.Personally,I prefer the super glue gel because it is smaller and easier to handle for this project. Hope that helps.

This is a mussel shell trimmed mirror I made for my daughter's downstairs bathroom. I picked the shells up from a nearby beach. Always wash the shells with some bleach, rinse well and dry outdoors. I'm pretty sure I used a glue gun and just laid the shells out in what made sense to me. This is many years old.

The second frame with shells was made to hang over other art work or projects. I loved these two antique prints. That looks like my bathroom paint so must have hung it there but I also remember hanging it on our porch and it is hanging now in my bedroom. I like doing just the frame because then you can put different things in side. This is a very fun project.

    Emily,

Thanks for taking the time to answer my question and sending me a couple of photos. Love the second frame with shells around a photo.

PS: The lighter shells seem to really brighten the project!
