Ultra-plush and ultra-soft carpets are causing some vacuums ultra problems. Consumer Reports shows you the issue and how you can fix it.
I love my Shark! Does a better job than my daughter's costing twice the money.
Dirt Devil makes good vacuums and are affordable.
I like Hoovers, look on the top for a dial that you can raise and lower it depending on carpet nap or bare floors. I would not get a Bissell, they are junk and according to the repairman, the ones you see the most for repairs. Had 2 of them, threw them out.
I don't know about super thick carpet, but my all time favorite vaccuum for going from carpet to hard flooring is the Panasonic. I've had several more expensive vacuums, but they either don't pick up well on hard floors or they just blow the dirt around. Panasonic picks up everything.
I agree with the shark. I went to the shark when my last mane brand broke and it really does work on all floors equally well. It is easy to take apart and clean and also easy to empty.
I have a shark, it sucks up everything. I have carpet, tile and laminate, works great! But the model I purchased was advertised as "backsaver" - it isn't - so if you have back issues or injuries I do not recommend. Try out in store first before purchasing.
