You may want to try this with your dog to break him of ruining the wall more. A spray bottle filled with water. Anytime your dog is doing something you don't want him or her to do, spray the dog with the water in the face and believe me they will associate their behavior with the spraying quickly.
Something like Formica?
Do you want a temporary fix or a permanent one? For a temporary fix, I would hang a mirror there, but if you need something permanent, perhaps you could tile the wall.
plexiglass on the wall
I would get a piece of plexiglass cut to fit, and corners drilled for screws. mount on wall, but you do need to train her.
I would suggest you crate her while gone. She might have seperation anxiety, and needs a secure place. Give her a blanket, a chew toy. Then go out for like 15 mins, then come in, and gradually build up the time till she realizes you are coming home. You could also get a security camera that works with a cell phone that also has microphone, so you can train her when your out of the room.
How about hanging a board covered with sandpaper? If she doesn't mind it her nails will be somewhat "styled" and she can't hurt an old board and some sandpaper.
i would use tile. Then he can't ruin it.
Being a dog trainer and multiple dog owner, A Shepherd included :) I would tile that wall. with grain going vertically.
Plexiglass does scratch and will look like crap in no time. And a mirror ?? HECK NO !!! Dangerous !
Why not do something her scratches wouldn't ruin? Like a rustic barn board wall. Scratched? Not a problem, and the texture might even keep her off it.
I love the cheapest porcelain tiles from Home Depot.. And don't chose a tile with grains like the new wood type ones. The grooves get really dirty and are almost impossible to clean :) We certainly don't need MORE work !
And if your Shep is anything like mine? They will do just about anything to be near us. so if tha's all the damage she does? You're ahead of the game !!
