I would first wrap in a couple layers around with bubble wrap and clear tape. Then lower into a lamp box? Besure to mark, This Side Up with an arrow, and fragile- don't crush.

I know my family always put the plants in a car to move them. I'm not sure how you're traveling when you move, but it's something to think about.
Good luck!
you could try using a tomato cage and then wrap bubble wrap around the out side of it.
I would put it into a cardboard box that is a tight fit so that the plant doesn't shift during the move. Water the plant a few days before the move so the soil is just moist, not wet - but moist enough so it doesn't dry out during the transport. DON'T wrap the branches or leaves with plastic - it may create too much heat which can burn it or trap moisture which can cause mildew and cause the leaves to decay.
As you well know, Jade plants drop leaves if bumped or jiggled around fiercely. Yes, water well a few days before move. Lower plant into large moving box and fill with styrofoam peanuts to cushion plant during move. Label this side Up and Living Plant Inside in large black letters. Add Up Arrows. If worried about how it will travel, I'd put it in the car with you. OR give it away and when you get to your new digs, buy another one.
