Old paneling upgrade with paint and wood slats.

SawHorse Design Build on Feb 16, 2014Most of our clients either replace the paneling with drywall or paint over what they have to make it look more modern. Did you see a picture of someone adding more wood to the paneling to give it a "board and batten" look?Helpful Reply

Frankieh on Feb 17, 2014I covered the paneling in my old house, by covering it with dry wall mud. I spread it on very thick and in a rough pattern, so the walls looked stuccoed. In some areas where the seams might show through, I had to add a second coat. When it dried, I painted a toasty color. My plan was to add an antique glaze wash over the wall, but the toast color was so pretty, I left it alone. The process took a lot of elbow grease, but it was well worth the effort.Helpful Reply
