You can use privacy film that comes in a variety of patterns
Here in Fl., where the sun gets really strong, I found that window film blocks the heat and stops degradation of carpet and furniture without blocking the view. Just bear in mind that the kind that is reflective on the outside, while being the most effective, also creates a mirror effect that birds recognize as opponents and tend to fly into it. There are types that aren't reflective and yet are strong sun block. Additionally it isn't terribly expensive, and can be a DIY
