Try buying draw dividers, and I would take everything out of the draw. Put back what you absolutely need, this should eliminate some of your clutter. Put the extras in a plastic bag under the draw, and if you really need something you put away it's right there. I did this and I took out ten things, clutter no more. Good Luck!
You can use foam board cut to size and covered in contact paper as well . I agree with you though . In the post you're talking about , the drawer did look as she had removed half of the contents .
