Are you watering them too much?
If you have this problem, it could be root rot. Too much watering. If any part of the plant is dead cut it off, because it takes away from water going to the healthy leaves. Good Luck!
Depending on the plant but yes, you can cut the brown tips at a slant and it will be fine. I have noticed some of my plant's leaves touching the wall or other surfaces like a lamp another pot etc. and that makes the leave tips brown.
many plants do that, it is usually a light, water, sun or similar issue.... you can only do your best. Many people simple trim the ends off with sharp scissors. I also prune my plants on a regular basis.
That's what I do, cut off just the brown part on an angle so as to make a point at the end. Good Luck!
Whenever I repot my plants, I put a layer of gravel or rocks from the Dollar Store on the bottom of the pot to allow for proper drainage. Even if you collect rocks from outside and stick them in there its better than nothing. This allows for proper drainage and helps prevent root rot.
It may also be helpful to replant into a larger pot. In my experience when they outgrow their "home" planter, they start to get brown at the tips of the leaves.
If your using any Miracle Grow type of plant food, you maybe using too much, that could burn the sensitive leaves of the plant as well.
I hope one of these can help! Best of luck!
