Plants that like lots of water.

Build a restraining wall, even 1' tall, at least 3' from the house. Funnel water away from the house with a narrow ditch, about a foot deep, with flagstone lying across the ditch at 1' intervals so you won't accidentally step in the ditch. Best wishes 😇

1st is there a water or moisture problem currently with your house? Or are you in a preventing problem mode?

If you have an ongoing problem you should contact a local licensed landscape contractor to evaluate your situation and make some recommendations and their costs ( if work is needed get at least 3 bids and go with the one that makes the most sense-Not necessarily and rarely the lowest bid) . This may show you what you can do on your own or if it needs big machinery , and labor beyond your desire to do the work, for things like, retaining walls, French drains, "permeable" (i.e. gravel) landscaping options and as suggested the type of vegetation that is not going to exacerbate any water run off problems, to your house.

we had that problem and put in french drains around our house. We also hauled in dirt from the nearby hill to build up the yard closes to the house so the lowest part of the lawn was not the foundation of our home, but now away from the house. Think like what a check mark looks like. We put the french drains at the bottom of the check mark or the new lowest part of the yard.
