See if a family member has a cheap paintable one and wants to trade. That way everybody is happy and you get what you want!
: )
Please, do not paint a fine piece of furniture. Painted furniture is a fad. Find a cheap piece at a thrift store if you want the painted look.
Doing some quick research, it looks like it is a pretty prestigious and pricey series of furniture. I honestly think you should clean up the best you can and leave it in it's original condition. If you wanted to add some antique white vases on top or other white decor to brighten it up, but I would be afraid to paint it!!
Your house, your look. Hickory is a hard wood, when you get tired of the painted look you can strip it back to natural color. I once got a painted table from the curb. It had multiple layers of paint. When I finished stripping it was a beautiful cherry wood. It has so far been passed to 3 family members, it is a much loved piece. And yes one did paint it again and another stripped it. So I say go for it! You love the lines right😎
Sometimes you just need a nudge in the right direction. Deep down I knew it was probably valuable and should not paint it! That is why it has been sitting staring at me for months! So I am taking Dysko 7710's suggestion !
Thank you all for your thoughts and suggestions!
