Tile floors have my furniture sliding

We just installed tile floors and our furniture is sliding around. Our recliners have flat bottoms, and our couch has rollers on it. They all keep moving. What can I put on the bottoms to keep them in place, but not discolor my new floors. They are a light tan, porcelain tile.

Hello Tbk; Please look on Amazon.com

Shepherd Hardware makes no slip pads.

Also, you can find several other things that will work at Home Depot, Wal-Mart, Etc. They offer heavy duty gripper pads.

I hope that this will help you!!!! Take Care!

There are sticky rubber pads you can put on the flat bottoms. I warn you, however, that they leave marks on the floors if you move the furniture. There are also rubber cups for chair legs. They aren't pretty, but they work well. For the couch, you could try the rubber cups. It might be better to just take the wheels off and put rubber cups on those too.

Just as a different approach, would you consider an area rug? It would add texture and help keep the furniture from sliding.

We do have that...but is large room and the rug is centered. I thought of that too....maybe get a bigger rug?

  • try self stick cork on one or two pieces to see if it helps. I did it on some chairs and it worked for me. I found it at Lowe's but I am sure other stores (maybe Michael's?) should have it.

Thank you all for great suggestions. I guess I was too close to the problem. Will give these all thought and then head to hardware store.

I would definitely define the area with a rug big enough to arrange the furniture on. The smaller rug could be used in another part of the room to define another area.
