It depends on what type of tub you have. Most home centers sell bathtub refinishing kits for various tub types. Research what type material your tub is made of, then go to your home center to see your options. Most are a paint or enamel type product that paints over the old surface.

That is the $64,000 question, Joy. There are DiY kits available at your local big box and hardware stores, but if you're looking for a long lasting solution, it's best to hire a firm that specializes in bathtub recoating. I can't even endorse that, as I had a bathtub recoated by a franchise outfit by the name of Surface Specialists, and that failed in under one year. It's truly a hit/miss proposition. I do have a 3 year gaurantee, and the firm has agreed to come out and re-do it, but I'm seriously considering removing the tub and installing a shower instead. If you re-do it yourself with a kit, be prepared to repeat the process in a year or three, if you hire it out, be sure to keep your invoice!

Had my pink tub repainted by a professional to white and looks good after over 10 years....have had to touch up scratches but no problem. This Tub is used about once a week.
