Put them in your bathtub and cover with hot water made sudsy by using a good dish soap. Dish soap is made for dissolving grunge and that is basically what sticks to metal blinds. I use a new sponge to scrub both sides. Then rinse them well and hang them to dry or towel dry them before hanging them back up in the window sills.

Remove them from the windows. Take them out on the patio or deck and scrub them with brush (non abrasive pad) a with a solution of diluted dishwasher soap and water. Rinse well with the garden hose.

You will have to do a couple of rounds of the cleaning, one on one side of the blind, one on the other side of the blind.

This method works best if you have two people- one to hold the blind, and one to scrub or spray.

This is what I've been doing to the same metal blinds in my home for 27 yrs. They were custom made for the windows. They have held up beautifully all these years. I use the dishwasher soap & water and a brush, hose them off and hang on my back wall. In So.CA they dry fast. I've also done same for the faux wooden ones I had made for my kitchen w/same results. If you're one person, don't fret - I manage to do them by myself. One just has to take the time to remove them from the window and carry safely outside.

Take the blind down and swish the whole thing in a tub with sudsy water.
