Depends on what you're looking for. Milk paint as I've seen it done, shows the wood grain and chalk paint is more opaque.
Chalk paint will eventually wear off by the constant use of opening cabinets etc
I would use milk paint. I would think it is easier to clean.

Chalk paint is the easy way out. Milk paint is definitely more work but will last decades and has a beautiful patina.

I prefer oil finish, we used to use Tung Oil or boiled linseed and as the piece ages it has an unmistakeble patina.
