Just cut where ever you feel needs to be cut back but make sure you leave each branch with budlings so it will continue to grow. Now if you want to get rid of it all together cut it back to where you can get to it with a chainsaw and get it down as close to the dirt as possible and paint the open part of the stump to prevent regrowth.
If you trim it back now you will lose next years flowers. if you must, cut back with shears that which you can, and then use Branch cutter to take out old dead wood and then trim to the shape you want.
