Hi Hometalkers!
You know, the holidays are getting really close and I needed to make the rest of the decorations now so I'm ready to decorate for the holidays, right!
Well, I was going through my holiday craft/diy material (I'm still purging) when I remembered these candy canes and why I saved them.
This is what I made...
They had little reese cups in them (ate them all) and I thought they would make a really awesome decoration for the holidays so I saved them from last Christmas!
I also got a big bag of Christmas ribbon from the Goodwill for $4.99!! And I mean big !! I have only used about half of that bag!
I used hot glue and velvet ribbon on two of them. Very easy, just glue one end of the ribbon to the bottom then start wrapping up like a candy cane. I glued the top end by pinching the ribbon together at the tip of the cane. I then added the white ribbon the same way !
Next ...
This is the bottom covered and glued with the ribbon.
I added small hoops of the white ribbon so I can hang them on the mantle with the stockings How easy was that!! Took about an hour, while I watched TV!
Here are the gold ones finished!
I love them!
This is all of the Christmas decorations I have made this year so far!
Five styrofoam cone Christmas trees with ribbon, glitter and things I had on hand, glass gem candles holders and a glass gem vase for my white poinsettias. I updated a reindeer and a tall stand I use for deep red poinsettias with gold spray paint and glitter and a big fat bow! My mom made the old fashioned stockings for me and they are beautiful!!
All of that was made before I was posting so I don't have pictures of the process.
The two little stockings I made by hand. I don't have a sewing machine, if I did I'm sure I would break it !
I have two more things to make for Christmas and that will be it for the year!
I have made my piles of craft/diy material even smaller now, much more manageable and neat! I only spent $4.99 and I made all of that decor! I really can't believe I had some much diy/craft material. I'm not sure how much money I've spent on my DIYing this year but I bet it is under $50! Most everything I have posted on Hometalk was at no cost because I already had it!! It just needed to be put together and used !
I hope you guys can find a candy cane and make something pretty with it too!
Thanks and I love all comments!
