make a screen to separate the room. Can be done using 3 recycled doors and hinges or make a frame with wooden dowels top and bottom to hang pretty fabric, or make panels of 1/4'plywood/mdf and wall paper or paint
We once rented an apt in which my husband felt he needed private space for his art work, other projects. We had a sizable bedroom so he built a wall that did not go to the ceiling but was otherwise studded, sheet rocked etc. A couple of years ago that building was for sale so for the heck of it, we went to an open house there. The wall was till standing after 40 years!
Check out Pinterest. You might consider long shutters finished to the color of your decor. You can put hinges between as many as you want to get the look you need
My step son deivided his basement by building bookshelves....5 of them and putting them on rollers. Left room for the door. They do not go to the ceiling but very close. When they are not needed for a divider they can be used against a wall and easy to move with the rollers.
You could put a track on the ceiling and hang a couple panels from the ceiling either a stained 1/4 plywood or some fabric-covered styrofoam panels. You could hang weighted curtain panels from the ceiling using pipe and l-shaped fittings. You could make a 4 panel floor screen from plywood and piano hinges and paint or cover it. Ikea has these also, and my fav is Kallax that gives so much storage.... http://www.ikea.com/us/en/search/?query=room+dividers&x=7&y=9
I just saw some art ones from Target that were gorgeous with Vincent Van Gogh starry night, Freida Kahlo but they are about $160. https://www.target.com/p/van-gogh-fine-art-double-sided-room-divider-starry-night-and-irises-oriental-furniture/-/A-17276559
Use discarded closet door size shutters and hinge them together. Paint or stencil them. Habitat Restore is good for these, also consignment shops, or if you know someone who is flipping a house, ask for the shutters, if available.
