Does an outdoor linear gas-fire-pit require an exhaust on the top?

    Why would you need an exhaust if the fire is already outdoors? Just be certain to have a licensed plumber do the hook-ups so that they are done properly with no gas leaks.

    I would, as gas is just that, a gas, which is toxic to anyone !

      That doesn't make sense to me, Andy. An exhaust merely sends the air outdoors, which is where it already is. Plus, the gas is used to burn in the fireplace just like it would be in your grill. As long as it is properly hooked up and adjusted by a licensed plumber, there should never be more gas escaping than will be burning. As with anything on fire, it is incumbent on them to turn off the flame when leaving. This cuts off the gas totally.
