Yes, they both work but I have noticed that the coffee grounds might work a little better.
I would assume any kind of compost is good for the soil.
don't know about tea leaves but don't pack coffee grds. down or water wont get through. just sprinkle;can also wash out egg shells, grind in blender ; I think this provides calcium to the plant. banana peels chopped up but bury pieces or it will draw unwanted creatures. hope this helps
