blend and make soup, put ice cream on it and eat cold--great
Overripe cantaloupe can be used in smoothies, just add them in with other fruits, along with ice and possibly almond milk, and add a little Cool Whip or about 2 tablespoons of instant pudding of the flavor of your choice. I've done as an added strawberries, blueberries and blackberries and bananas. The instant pudding gives it a little sweeter taste, and also thickens it. Just don't add too much liquid because then you'll have slush. Start out with less instead of more. The other suggestion is to take the overripe cantaloupe and freeze it in the freezer in an ice tray, and use it in spritzers or use it in coolers like wine coolers, or even have it ready for your next smoothie! This way the cantaloupe does not go to waste, but you're not stuck with actually eating smooshy tasting fruit. Have some fun with it and enjoy!
Cut off any parts that are slimy, and buzz it up in the blender for a smoother. I'd add some other fruit to it. Good Luck!
As long as it doesn't smell "off" you can use it. If you can't eat it right away, cut it up and freeze it. Add later to other fruit to make smoothies, a cold soup, a milkshake with ice cream or add vodka for a drink.
